The Hill of Fear: A Marketing Metaphor

I recently took on a nightmare of a hill. It was steep, winding, and completely intimidating. My wife Jenni had never driven up it because it was too terrifying. And to be honest, I could see why.

It was first gear all the way. Tyres screeching around corners. Hoping nothing was coming the other way. It took full concentration just to stay on the road.

But as I drove, I realised it was the perfect metaphor for marketing and business. The things that scare us are often the things that get us the best results. They feel uncomfortable, they take effort, and we usually want to avoid them. But if we push through, the reward tends to be worth it.

In your business or your marketing, it is the same. The things that challenge you, that take you out of your comfort zone, are often the ones that create real impact.

So next time something feels too big or too scary, give it a proper try. It might just take you somewhere better than you expected.
