Sealing the Leaks: Effective Lead Management

Your marketing is only part of the puzzle.

Before you launch any campaign or push out new content, there is something essential you need to do first. We call it digital plumbing.

There is no point creating demand, awareness, or generating leads if those leads are slipping through the cracks. You need a way to capture interest and follow up properly. Otherwise, you are just doing marketing for the sake of it.

Start by asking a few key questions. Is there a clear call to action in your marketing? Does it lead someone to a form, a page, or somewhere they can take the next step? Once they submit their details, what happens next? Do they receive an email? Are they added to your CRM? Is there a system in place to follow up?

These might sound like small things, but they are the difference between marketing that builds a business and marketing that simply looks busy.

For example, I had a lead come through this morning. Why? Because I had a clear form on my website. The content led them there. They filled in their name, email address, and a bit about themselves. That gave me everything I needed to follow up.

The key is making it easy for people to connect with you. Your content should not just inspire action. It should be supported by a simple, seamless way for people to take that action.

So before you focus on reach or engagement, check the basics. Do your digital plumbing. Make sure nothing is leaking.
